‘It is the best they have in their repertoire.’ Zakharova on Liz Truss’s appointment

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated in an interview with TASS that the appointment of Liz Truss as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom reflects a crisis of British democracy.

“If shopkeepers have shaped their window display this way, it means that this is the best they have in their repertoire at this point in time. Are there not deserving, professional, and intelligent individuals in countries with large populations and long-standing democratic traditions who can represent different branches of power?” the diplomat noted.

It is worth recalling that as a result of the elections, Liz Truss, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, was selected as the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
