Alert from the Border Village of Tegh: The Community Mayor is Collecting Large Sums of Money from Residents.
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "Masis Zeynalyan, an opposition member of the Tegh community council in Syunik Province, informed us that the community is collecting 5,000 drams from each household for the purpose of paving the streets. 'I have lived in the Tegh community for many years, but this is the first time money has been collected for paving; now they are asking for money from the residents of this border village.' He stated that the funds were being collected for fuel costs.
‘But that’s not all; the paving materials are being brought from neighboring villages, even though our community has a large sand quarry that would be sufficient for paving the streets of 7 villages. If it’s for fuel, the community has 500 households, and if we calculate based on 5,000 drams per household, it amounts to 2.5 million drams, which means they are collecting enough money for about 5 tons of fuel,’ the council member reported.
He expressed perplexity as all organizations are supporting border communities, especially in Syunik, yet the mayor of Tegh is collecting large sums of money himself." More details can be found on the original source's website.
