‘How can I answer such questions?’ says Artsakh's Minister of Internal Affairs
Today, on September 2, during a conversation with journalists in Stepanakert, Artsakh's Minister of Internal Affairs Karen Sargsyan addressed the detention of former Artsakh Defense Army commander Mikayel Arzumanyan, who is accused of surrendering Shushi. He noted, ‘I recognize him as a person; he is a normal military officer.’
Regarding the new road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, Sargsyan stated that the road, according to his information, will be operational until May, and a new road is being constructed, with work having already begun.
When asked if he had received specific security guarantees from Azerbaijan that this road would be safe, he responded, ‘That question is directed at the leadership of the peacekeeping forces; how can I answer such questions? I can only speak about internal security.’
Commenting on the prevailing sentiments in Artsakh, where people are hopeful about joining Russia, Karen Sargsyan remarked, ‘While living here, Artsakh must remain Armenian; we do not pin our hopes on anyone else. We do not see problems with Armenia; we are united. As for my area of expertise, I can say that cooperation with my colleagues in Armenia is at a high level, for which I am grateful. I believe that everything will be fine if we remain united.’
