Viva-MTS Appeals to NSS, Prosecutor's Office and Police
Viva-MTS has issued a statement, which we present below.
“Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper and the affiliated armlur.am website persistently continue to publish reports alleging that “MTS Armenia” LLC has provided mobile SIM cards to Azerbaijanis.
In this regard, Viva-MTS appeals to the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, and the Police of the Republic of Armenia, requesting an investigation into the publications by “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper and armlur.am to ascertain what evidence the media possesses and from what sources it has acquired information, considering that despite numerous denials and clarifications by Viva-MTS, as well as the response from NSS that was published by the media, stating that (quote) “MTS Armenia, as well as other mobile operators operating in Armenia, have not sold phone numbers to employees of special services of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani citizens, or persons holding Azerbaijani passports,” the media stubbornly continues to assert that the phone numbers provided by Viva-MTS for social surveys have been used by Azerbaijanis to extract important information related to national security from Armenian citizens.
Viva-MTS expresses its readiness to assist law enforcement agencies in the comprehensive and thorough investigation of this issue.
The company informs that it will not respond further to the ongoing similar publications by “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper/armlur.am, considering them nothing more than information manipulation towards readers and an attempt to defame Viva-MTS's business reputation and engage in informational blackmail.
Viva-MTS.”
