Turkey on the Transfer of Lachin to Azerbaijan
Turkey has expressed hope that the transfer of Lachin, Zabukh, and Sus to Azerbaijan will contribute to the improvement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. "We are pleased that the town of Lachin and the villages of Zabukh and Sus have been returned to Azerbaijan within the framework of the process outlined by the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. We hope that this important step towards establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus will improve regional and Azerbaijani-Armenian relations," the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated in a press release today.
The Turkish foreign office also noted that "Ankara has defended and will continue to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our brotherly Azerbaijan."
