Gegham Manukyan on Government's Proposal for 24 Million Dram Service
Armenian National Assembly member from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Gegham Manukyan, has made a post on his Facebook page discussing the government's new proposal that would allow conscripts to serve for 4.5 months in exchange for 24 million drams (approximately $60,000).
The post is presented below:
“The Ministry of Defense has introduced a proposal that suggests providing conscripts the opportunity to be released from further service after 4.5 months in exchange for 24 million drams. The despicable idea of being 'ransomed' or turning the Armenian National Army into a labor-peasant army was already circulated by the authorities once after 2018, and after widespread criticism, it was shelved. Apparently, they have not forgotten it yet. We will later respond in detail with arguments regarding the dangers and unacceptability of this proposal,” he wrote.
