Turkey Conducts Drills Simulating Possible Accident at Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant
Turkey has conducted drills simulating a possible accident at the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was reported by ermenihaber.am.
According to Turkey's state news agency, Anadolu, the drills involved the participation of the Emergency Situations Administration (AFAD) of Kars Province and several other agencies. They focused on potential chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear leaks from the Metsamor NPP, located 16 km from the Turkish border and within Armenian territory.
As per the scenario of the drills, a magnitude 7 earthquake occurred near the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in a leak and causing injuries to 20 residents of the bordering villages of Aslıhan, Kalakule, and Küçük Akyüz.
