Iran Ready to Meet Transit Needs of Landlocked Countries, Including Armenia
Iran is prepared to meet the transit needs of eight landlocked countries in the region. This announcement was made by Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Rostam Qasemi, during a transport forum for landlocked developing countries in Turkmenistan.
“A quarter of the world’s 32 landlocked developing countries, which means 8 countries: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, have close bilateral and multilateral transit cooperation with Iran,” he stated.
According to him, this entails that Iran and other countries in the region are assisting landlocked nations in reducing trade costs and facilitating access to global markets.
