Avinyan Appeals to the National Assembly: The Freedom of Organizing Fireworks Must Be Banned
Former Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan has written on his Facebook page: "Back in 2020, we were discussing the tightening of regulations for organizing fireworks. In 2021, the initiative received government approval and was sent to the National Assembly. While understanding the economic interests of business owners, I believe that the free sale of pyrotechnic products should indeed be banned, as envisaged in our proposed regulation.
The project stipulates that fireworks would only be allowed for state and community events, and the free sale of pyrotechnic products would be prohibited. Their unrestricted use not only disrupts public life and people's peace but also often leads to physical injuries. Even in these days, their use continues, causing outrage among our fellow citizens.
I am convinced that a ban on the free organization of fireworks should be established, and I urge my colleagues in the National Assembly to take up the implementation of this initiative. I extend my condolences to all the relatives of the victims and wish a swift recovery to the injured."
It is noteworthy that on August 14, at 13:23, the Crisis Management National Center received a report that an explosion occurred at the "Surmalu" shopping center located at 15 Arshakunyats, resulting in a fire outbreak and partial collapse of the three-story building.
