Shuttered Commercial Centers Near Surmalu, Including Petak
Commercial centers located near the Surmalu shopping center are closed, including Petak, reports News.am.
Recall that yesterday, at 1:23 PM, the National Center for Crisis Management received a call indicating an explosion at the Surmalu shopping center. According to preliminary data, an explosion occurred, igniting a fire. As a result of the explosion, there are 6 fatalities, and the number of injured exceeds 60.
In a conversation with reporters today, the Minister of Emergency Situations announced that 15 citizens have been located through search efforts, with 18 still being sought.
This morning, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also arrived at the scene. In connection with the powerful explosion, a criminal investigation has been launched under Articles 357 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Violation of fire safety rules or requirements resulting in death or other severe consequences due to negligence) and 358 (Part 2) (Violation of rules or requirements for the storage, accounting, transportation, delivery, or use of flammable or incendiary materials resulting in death or other severe consequences due to negligence).
