Iran Opposes Potential Closure of Iran-Armenia Border, Says Spiritual Leader to Erdogan
Iran will oppose the policy of blocking the border between Iran and Armenia by Turkey and Azerbaijan. As reported by the Iranian ISNA news agency, this was stated by Iran's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei in a conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“If there is a policy of blocking the border between Iran and Armenia, the Islamic Republic will be against it because that border is considered a communication route that has existed for thousands of years,” said Khamenei.
It should be noted that a high-level cooperation council meeting between Turkey and Iran is taking place in Tehran. Today, a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Iran is also expected, where a tripartite meeting will be held between the leaders of Turkey, Iran, and Russia.
