Spanish Company Announces Launch of Armenia's First Satellite into Space

Spanish company SATLANTIS has announced the launch of Armenia's first satellite, named "Urdaneta", stating that they are proud to collaborate with Armenia.

The company's director, Jean-Jacques Dorein, particularly noted: "We are proud to launch our satellite known as Armsat-1, which is Armenia's first strategic satellite. We will support the government’s decisions by creating jobs, talent, and products."

Following a successful launch of the satellite from Cape Canaveral in the USA, SATLANTIS announced the signing of a contract with Armenia's state-owned company "Geocosmos", which provides the company with a comprehensive Earth observation system. The "Urdaneta", also referred to as ARMSAT-1, has a 2-meter optical resolution.

According to SATLANTIS, the agreement with the Armenian side will positively impact Armenia's ecosystem by increasing the number of sector specialists and engineers. It is reported that after the successful launch, the first Armenian satellite is in good condition and is ready to carry out its mission over the next four years.

On May 26, ARMSAT-1 established its first connection with Earth, and all satellite subsystems are functioning seamlessly. Details of the satellite's mission and its initial results will be presented in Yerevan during the "Starmus" festival scheduled for September.
