IMPORTANT: Armenian Ministry of Defense on Reports of Azerbaijani Advancements

The Armenian Ministry of Defense has refuted claims circulating in the media and on social networks that "Azerbaijani units have advanced again in the mountainous area opposite the village of Nerk’in Hand in the Syunik province of Armenia." This was communicated by the Ministry of Defense.

The clarification states: "As already presented in the clarification issued by the Ministry of Defense on March 21 of this year, the presence of Azerbaijani units in the specified section of the border has been recorded after November 9, 2020, during the post-war period. Furthermore, immediately after the fact of their deployment was established, the Armenian Armed Forces took necessary steps to gain control over the Azerbaijani positions, resulting in full monitoring of the movement of Azerbaijani servicemen in the indicated area, and any attempt at advancement will lead to counteractions."

The Ministry of Defense again urges to refrain from spreading information that is inconsistent with reality, which could undermine the credibility of the army and create unfounded tensions among the public.
