Referendum Planned in Zaporizhzhia for Joining Russia
Zaporizhzhia region will commence freight and passenger rail connections with Crimea, reported Vladimir Rogov, a member of the region's military-civilian administration, to RIA Novosti.
“Bus, freight, and passenger rail connections with Crimea will be restored. This will significantly relieve the checkpoints,” said Rogov. The rail communication had been suspended eight years ago due to a decision by the Kyiv authorities.
He also mentioned that soon residents of Zaporizhzhia will receive Russian passports, with approximately 500 people expected to obtain them in this phase. According to Rogov, a consolidated decision has been made to prepare for a referendum regarding joining Russia.
“Preparations will take several months. The overwhelming majority of our region's inhabitants want to quickly return to their native port and become part of Greater Russia,” he added.
