Video: Kerobyan Presented the Issue of Rising Apartment Rents to Pashinyan

At today's meeting of the Armenian government, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan complained that rental prices for apartments have increased, and his brother is also living in rented accommodation.

“My brother was renting, but recently the landlord tripled the rent, saying that there are more attractive conditions for renting and long-term prepayment,” stated Minister Vahan Kerobyan while discussing the issue of subsidizing interest rates for energy-efficient renovation loans for apartments.

It should be noted that this issue was presented by the chairman of the Urban Development Committee, Armen Ghularyan, who mentioned that the program aims to alleviate the demand that has arisen in the rental market for apartments. It is planned that the relevant regulations will be developed before coming into force, by May 20; however, the Minister of Economy suggested bringing the deadline closer and expediting the regulations as soon as possible to curb the inflation in the rental housing market since many, unable to pay the increased rents, are left on the street.
