European Wrestling Championships: Amoyan Defeats Azerbaijani Wrestler
At the European Championships in Greco-Roman wrestling taking place in Budapest, Hungary, Malkhas Amoyan competed in the quarterfinals of the 77 kg weight category against Sanan Suleymanov, the world silver medalist and European champion from Azerbaijan. Amoyan emerged victorious with a score of 6-5 after a fierce match.
The Azerbaijani wrestler put up a tough fight. In the first round, both wrestlers suffered head injuries. As the second round started, the score was tied at 5-5 in favor of Malkhas Amoyan. The Azerbaijani wrestler was unable to score any points afterward and lost to the Armenian wrestler.
