Updated Weather Information
The Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center informs that March stands out due to extremely low temperatures and exceptionally heavy snowfall. Especially in the last 8 days, the daily average temperature across the entire country has been 6-8 degrees below the norm.
As of today, the amount of precipitation, with the exception of the Ararat Plain, has reached 150-200% of the norm in most parts of the republic, with some areas recording 210-230%. In the last three days, due to the penetration of a powerful cyclone, record amounts of snow have been observed in certain regions of the republic. In particular, in separate areas of Tavush, Lori, and Syunik, the snow cover has increased by 60-70 cm over three days, with some localities exceeding 100 cm.
Due to the severe blizzards observed on March 20, several roads have become impassable. Over the past 40 years, our country has not seen such intense and prolonged heavy snowfall in March.
From March 21 to 25, the influence of the cyclone will continue across the country; however, it is expected to significantly weaken compared to March 20. In the coming five days, precipitation in the form of snow will continue periodically in separate regions of the republic, with heavy snowfall and low horizontal visibility expected in mountainous areas.
The air temperature is not expected to rise significantly over the next five days, remaining about 5-8 degrees below climatic norms.
