The newspaper 'Hraparak' writes that the official reasons for the surprising dismissal of Artak Davtyan from the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces on February 24 were never announced. One of Davtyan's close associates informed us that he had previously expressed a personal desire to resign, lamenting in his inner circles that the army is being dismantled. However, he has reportedly been held in a hostage-like situation, threatened with criminal punishment if he opposed. Davtyan has reportedly told those close to him that he has been 'set up'. The specifics of the set-up were not detailed by our source, who hinted that a criminal case is being prepared against Davtyan. It is worth noting that he has been charged in relation to the Davit Tonoyan case.

After his dismissal from the position of Chief of the General Staff, it is claimed that another position was offered to Davtyan, which he declined.
