Severe Snowstorm, Black Ice: Condition of Roads in Armenia

The Road Department Foundation reports that as of March 10 at 09:00, the Vardenyats Pass is closed to all types of vehicles due to a severe snowstorm.

The Mastara-Lanjik-Gyumri roadway is impassable for vehicles with trailers. There are areas of black ice on the roads in the regions of Ijevan, Noyemberyan, Vayk, Stepanavan, and Tumanyan.

Snow is falling in the regions of Baghramyan, Talin, Ani, Artik, Akhuryan, Ashotzk, Ashtarak, Aparan, Aragats, Spitak, Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Tashir, Nairi, Abovyan, Hrazdan, Sevan, Gavar, and Jambarak.

Road construction workers are carrying out snow clearing and sanding operations on the roads. Other interstate and republican roads are open. To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to use winter tires.
