Abramovich Selling Chelsea; Proceeds to Aid Victims of Ukraine Conflict
The official website of Chelsea Football Club has released a statement from Roman Abramovich announcing his decision to sell the football club.
"As I have previously said, my decisions are always made in the best interests of the club. I have decided to sell the club because I believe it is in the best interests of the club, its fans, staff, sponsors, and partners," the statement reads.
Abramovich has requested his team to create a charitable foundation to support those affected by the conflict in Ukraine, to which the entire proceeds from the sale will be donated.
It is worth noting that the deal is valued at $4 billion. Abramovich also stated that Chelsea has never been considered a business for him, and by parting with the club, he will not demand repayment of loans previously provided.
