Iran Expects Effective Role from Berlin in Safeguarding Its Interests: Iranian Foreign Ministry
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has stated that Tehran considers the quality of the agreement alongside the element of time, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.
During a meeting with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in the corridors of the Munich Security Conference, the Iranian minister expressed that Tehran expects an effective role from Berlin in safeguarding Iran's interests, as it is one of the affected parties following the US's unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
Amir-Abdollahian also mentioned Tehran's readiness to hold a joint commission between the two countries in the near future, adding that Iran is prepared to expand relations in the fields of economy, politics, culture, and science.
The foreign ministers of Iran and Germany also discussed the current situation regarding negotiations on lifting sanctions in Vienna. Rejecting claims regarding false deadlines, Amir-Abdollahian stated, “Tehran sees the quality of the agreement in conjunction with the element of time, and if Tehran's legitimate demands are heard today, an agreement can be reached in Vienna.”
Germany's foreign minister welcomed the expansion of comprehensive ties with Iran and emphasized the importance of enhancing efforts to reach a good agreement in Vienna.
