Zelensky Believes NATO Membership Guarantees Ukraine's Security
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine aims to join NATO. Zelensky explained the motives behind this desire, asserting that membership in the alliance would guarantee the country's security and territorial integrity.
This statement was made by Zelensky during a press briefing on Monday, February 14, following a meeting with German Chancellor Scholz.
“Ukraine’s aspiration towards the European Union, to strengthen its borders, and our ambitions for the alliance’s future are well known. In addition to being our state’s wish, amid the ongoing war in the east, we understand that we would like to join NATO, and yes, this would be the preservation of our security and our territorial integrity,” Zelensky was quoted by RIA Novosti.
Zelensky expressed regret that not everything regarding this issue is dependent on Ukraine.
