Azerbaijan Reports on Armenia's Return of Remains
Armenia has returned remains of bodies to Azerbaijan through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. This was reported by Elmar Samadov, the head of the working group of the state commission dealing with prisoners of war, hostages, and missing persons.
"The remains have mainly been retrieved from ground and underground water sites, therefore, obtaining DNA samples from these remains is very difficult. Final information will be provided regarding how many bodies are present there," Samadov noted.
It is worth recalling that on February 9, during a question and answer session with the Government at the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia had transferred the remains of 108 individuals considered missing from the First Nagorno-Karabakh War to Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister also mentioned that in the coming days, the Armenian side plans to transfer the remains of two more individuals.
