Has Armen Sarkissian Declared His Income? - ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’
The newspaper ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ reports: The resignation of President Armen Sarkissian continues to spark public interest. We have received new information related to this topic. It turns out that the Anti-Corruption Committee, which is primarily responsible for monitoring the compliance with the incompatibility requirements and other restrictions for high-ranking officials, as well as the ethical rules and regulations regarding conflicts of interest, has been investigating Armen Sarkissian's assets for several months. This includes a publication by ‘Hetq’ stating that a company linked to President Sarkissian purchased property near the Champs-Élysées in Paris for €7.5 million. This investigation touches upon the names of the president’s sister, Dr. Karine Sarkissian, and his daughter, Tatevik Sarkissian. However, no substantial grounds have been found to initiate proceedings in this case.
While these investigations remain incomplete, the Committee has received an inquiry from a Swiss company asking whether the President of the Republic of Armenia has declared any property and financial assets located in Switzerland. The Committee formally requested clarification from the President's Office but did not receive a response. Just a few days later, Armen Sarkissian submitted his resignation.
