Russia Does Not Plan Invasion, NATO Says

NATO admits that Russia is "not planning to invade" Ukraine, according to a report by RIA Novosti referencing sources from Euractiv.

According to the site, "in the assessment of a NATO source, Russia is not planning an invasion." For this to occur, military capabilities are needed that differ from those that are supposedly "currently deployed" near Ukraine's borders.

At the same time, the source noted that there are already options for "de-escalating the situation existing around this issue as early as tomorrow." The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Russia is moving its troops within its territorial borders at its discretion. He emphasized that this does not pose a threat to anyone and should not cause concern. Furthermore, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously stated, Russia is not creating any pretexts for a conflict situation around Ukraine.
