Erdogan Files Lawsuit Against 2 Opposition MPs

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has filed a lawsuit against two opposition members of parliament from the Republican People's Party (CHP). The complaint is directed at Engin Ozkoç, the leader of the opposition CHP parliamentary group, and Aykut Erdoğdu, an MP elected from Istanbul.

According to Ermenihaber, Erdogan's lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın, requested an investigation into the remarks made by the MPs during a broadcast on the 'Tele 1' TV channel on January 14, which allegedly included offensive expressions towards the President. It is noted that the opposition MPs have violated the limits of freedom of speech and have infringed upon personal rights through defamation and insult.

It is worth mentioning that during the same television broadcast, Turkish journalist Sedef Kabaş was already arrested on charges of insulting Erdogan. She specifically stated: 'When a large cattle enters a palace, it does not become a king, but the palace becomes a barn.'
