«I Have Visited Armenia - France's Sister Country», Valérie Pécresse
Valérie Pécresse, the head of the Île-de-France region and a candidate for the French presidency, made a post on her official Facebook page regarding her recent visit to Armenia. She informed that she, along with Bruno Retailleau, the leader of the Republican group in the French Senate, and former French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier, visited the sister country of France. They advocated for increasing France's support for the restoration of peace in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as for Armenia's economic and cultural development and the preservation of Armenian spiritual heritage.
The French politician also shared photos from her meetings with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, and the President of the Republic of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan, as well as her visit to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
Valérie Pécresse is the president of the Regional Council of Île-de-France. On December 4, 2021, she was nominated as a candidate for the French presidency by the Republicans party, ahead of the elections scheduled for April 2022.
