Snowstorms, Black Ice, Closed Roads: Current Situation in the Republic
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
The road from the Amberd Fortress to Lake Karih is closed in the Aragatsotn region. Due to the risk of landslides, the road from the village of Zovuni to the Koreans' Gorge is temporarily closed. The section from "Zanger" to Sisian is closed for freight vehicles. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for truck trailers.
The roads of Charentsavan and Hrazdan cities in Kotayk region, the Ashotsk-Krasar road in Shirak region, and the Spitak serpentine roads in Lori region are difficult to traverse. There is black ice in some places on the Saravan-"Zanger" section and on the Aparan-Aragats road in the Aragatsotn region.
Snow has fallen in Kotayk region, in Tsaghkashen, Spitak, Vanadzor in Lori region, Dilijan in Tavush region, Martuni, Jambarak, Sevan cities in Gegharkunik region, and in the Ashotsk region of Shirak and Aragatsotn region.
There is a snowstorm in the city of Artik and the village of Ashotsk in Shirak region.
Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia’s Emergency Department and the Crisis Management Center of North Ossetia of the Russian Federation, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
