Azerbaijan Plans to File Interstate Claims Against Armenia
Azerbaijan intends to file interstate claims against Armenia next year regarding "environmental damage and the illegal exploitation of energy resources in the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh." This was announced today during a press briefing by the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mamedov, as reported by TASS.
“The Azerbaijani side plans to present interstate claims against Armenia based on several international conventions. One of them will pertain to environmental damage. The second will be related to energy resources,” Mamedov stated.
Last Tuesday, the International Court of Justice demanded that both Azerbaijan and Armenia refrain from inciting racial hatred. According to the ruling, both sides must avoid actions that could escalate or deepen the disagreements or complicate the resolution of the dispute.
