I Must Apologize to the Fans: Caparros

In the latest round of the 2022 World Cup qualifying matches, the Armenian national team suffered a heavy defeat, losing 0-5 to North Macedonia. Following the match, our team's head coach Joaquin Caparros answered questions from journalists, as reported by ArmSport.am.

“First of all, I must apologize to our fans. We approached this game with a lot of hope and enthusiasm, wanting to bring joy to our supporters. However, the game did not go well; from the very first minute, the team did not perform well, and we conceded a goal very quickly. This had a negative impact on our play,” said the coach.

- It would be interesting to hear Mr. Caparros' opinion on our newcomers; if the game were to start again, would he choose the same lineup?

- You know, it’s easy to talk after the match and say that a different lineup could have been chosen. Regarding the newcomers, it can’t be said that they were very much to blame for all of this. The opponent played well, and we did not.

- Is there a certain fatigue among the national team players, and will there be a rotation for the game against Germany?

- We need to analyze the past match, engage in self-criticism, and understand which players are psychologically strong enough to compete against the German national team.
