100 People Arrested in Turkey for Political Views
In Turkey, 100 individuals have been arrested across 40 provinces on suspicion of having connections with opposition cleric Fethullah Gülen, who is accused of orchestrating the failed coup attempt in July 2016, reports Anadolu.
During the investigation by Ankara's chief prosecutor into the 'FETÖ' imams, a detention order was issued for 100 suspects across 40 provinces, according to the agency.
The Turkish authorities accuse Gülen's organization, referred to as FETÖ, of being involved in the coup attempt of July 2016. Since the coup, more than 80,000 people have been detained, and about 150,000 public servants, including military personnel, have been dismissed.
Gülen himself, who resides in the United States, condemned the coup attempt and denied the accusations against him.
