Hovhannes Bachkov Defeats Azerbaijani Malik Hasanov

In the ongoing World Championships in the Serbian capital of Belgrade, Armenian boxer Hovhannes Bachkov commenced his campaign with a match against Azerbaijani Malik Hasanov, triumphing over him in the 63.5 kg weight category. The victory was awarded to our boxer by the overwhelming majority of the judges. Notably, Hasanov holds the title of European champion.

It is worth mentioning that Bachkov had skipped the 1/32 finals, whereas Malik Hasanov secured a victory in that round. Even a warning issued by the referee to Bachkov, resulting in the deduction of one point, could not assist the Azerbaijani boxer.

After the defeat, Hasanov refrained from approaching our boxer's corner or extending a handshake to Bachkov, a customary gesture performed in every boxing match after the bout.

Furthermore, in the 1/8 finals, the Armenian boxer will face Italian Gianluigi Malanga on November 1.
