French Ambassador Leaves Belarus as Belarusian Envoy Called Back to Minsk
The French ambassador to Belarus, Nicolas de Lacoste, has not completed the procedure for assuming office and has left Belarus. The head of the diplomatic mission in Paris, Igor Fisenko, has also been summoned for consultation. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
“The head of the French diplomatic mission has not expressed a willingness to complete the process of assuming the position of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the Republic of Belarus, which is stipulated by international law and generally accepted practice. In this regard, we had to inform our French partners about the expiration of the contract for his appointment, provided by the Belarusian authorities,” the ministry stated.
