Negative in Yerevan, Positive in Tokyo: Will the Armenian Gymnast Participate in the World Championship?
The Armenian men's gymnastics team member Vahagn Davtyan may not participate in the World Championship. Before leaving Armenia, Davtyan's Covid-19 test was negative; however, upon arriving at Haneda Airport in Japan, he tested positive for Covid-19.
The federation reports that Davtyan shows no symptoms and feels very well, but he has been isolated in Tokyo. "At this moment, the Armenian Gymnastics Federation and the Armenian embassy in Japan are making every effort to have Davtyan tested for Covid-19 once again, as we consider the previous test result to be a mistake. However, they are still refusing to retest him. This World Championship is poorly organized," the federation stated.
