Oil, Eggs, Sugar, Bread, and Flour Prices Increase
The 12-month inflation rate in the Armenian consumer market has reached 8.9%, while a 0.1% price decrease was recorded compared to the previous month. This information was provided by the Statistical Committee.
In the oils and fats category, a 27.1% inflation rate was noted in September 2021 compared to September 2020, while a 0.8% price decrease was observed compared to August 2021 (the price increase of sunflower oil was 55.1% in September 2021 compared to September 2020, with a 2% price decrease compared to August 2021).
In the meat products category, a 9% increase was recorded in September 2021 compared to September 2020, and a 0.1% inflation rate was noted compared to August 2021 (the price of pork increased by 40.2% in September 2021 compared to September 2020, with a 1.1% increase compared to August 2021).
In the bakery and grain products category, a 9.5% inflation rate was recorded in September 2021 compared to September 2020, and a 0.8% increase was observed compared to August 2021. Prices for bread and flour increased by 9.8% and 6.7%, respectively, in September 2021 compared to 2020, while compared to August 2021, the increases were 0.9% and 1.3%.
In the fish and seafood category, a 27.7% inflation rate was observed in September 2021 compared to September 2020, and a 1.2% increase was recorded compared to August 2021 (the price increase for fish types was 31.6% in September 2021 compared to September 2020, with a 1.3% increase compared to August 2021).
In the dairy products, cheese, and egg category, a 10% price increase was observed in September 2021 compared to September 2020, and a 2% increase was seen compared to August 2021. The price of eggs increased by 27.4% in September 2021 compared to September 2020, and by 3.9% compared to August 2021. In September 2021, cheese prices were up 6.3% from September 2020 and 2.6% from August 2021.
In the sugar and sugar products category, a 31.1% increase was recorded in September 2021 compared to September 2020, while a 5.5% increase was observed compared to August 2021. In September 2021, there was a 0.1% increase in non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, tea, cocoa, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products compared to August 2021.
