Azerbaijan's President Aliyev Calls on UN Member States Not to Use the Term 'Nagorno-Karabakh'
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, during his speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, called on member states and the organization’s secretariat not to use the term "Nagorno-Karabakh."
"Azerbaijan has resolved the 30-year conflict through military-political means, restored its territorial integrity, and historical justice. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a thing of the past. There is no longer an administrative-territorial unit called 'Nagorno-Karabakh' in Azerbaijan. We have created the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. Taking this opportunity, I call on UN member states and the secretariat to refrain from using names that have no legal standing, which are politically biased and exploitative in references to our territories," he said.
