Medals of Rio 2016 Champion and Tokyo 2020 Silver Medalist Elena Vesnina Stolen

Elena Vesnina, the women's doubles champion of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the silver medalist in mixed doubles at Tokyo 2020, has reported that her house near Moscow was burgled, leading to the theft of her Olympic medals.

“My husband and I were out of the house for a few hours. When we returned from dinner, we noticed that the medals had been stolen, which were in a drawer that was not visible in the bag. I hadn’t placed them in the fireproof safe because I had shown them to the children at the tennis club. However, the fireproof safe was also broken into, and valuable items and jewelry were stolen,” Vesnina recounted.
