Jalal Harutyunyan Questioned
Recently, a criminal case related to the 44-day war has led to the detention of officer Gevorg Gevorgyan. According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', Jalal Harutyunyan has been questioned in the context of this case, as reported by armlur.am.
The Investigative Committee has informed that, as a result of extensive investigative and other procedural actions conducted within the framework of the criminal case being investigated by the Military Investigative Main Administration's Department for Particularly Important Cases, sufficient factual data have been obtained regarding the actions of the responsible officer of the artillery division of military unit N during the state of emergency declared by the government of the Republic of Armenia on September 27, 2020. Driven by personal interests and with the aim of saving his own life, the major displayed a negligence of authority, which led to severe consequences.
On August 25, 2021, charges were brought against him under part 4 of Article 375 of the RA Criminal Code. The prosecuting body submitted a petition to the court to select detention as a measure of restraint, which was granted on August 28. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
