Construction of Turkey's Ministry of Defense New Building is a Message to the Region: Analyst Claims Turkey is Not Preparing for Peace
Construction work has begun on the new building of Turkey's Ministry of Defense and General Staff, often referred to as the 'Turkish Pentagon,' in the capital city of Ankara. This structure, set to open in 2023, features the crescent and star, symbols of the Turkish flag.
According to Turkish expert Varujan Geghamyan, who posted about this on his Facebook page, 'The construction of the new building actually symbolizes a shift in Turkey's foreign policy strategy. Turkey considers military power (hard power) to be the primary tool for resolving its foreign issues. This shift is commonly referred to as 'militarization'—the militarization of foreign policy.'
'Essentially, this building also sends a message to the region. Turkey is not preparing for peace in the region (including the South Caucasus),' the analyst stated.
