Assessment of Hail Damage in Gegharkunik Ongoing, Says Narek Manukyan
Severe hail that hit on August 14 has caused significant damage to the Vardenis community and surrounding villages. In an interview with MediaHub.am, Narek Manukyan, acting governor of Gegharkunik Province, stated that assessments of the damage are currently underway in the communities.
“The community leaders are busy determining the extent of damages. The governor’s office has also created a commission to calculate the damage,” Manukyan said.
According to him, particularly affected are crops of potatoes and various vegetables cultivated in household land areas, including onions, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, hot peppers, carrots, beans, and beets. The harvest of wheat, barley, potatoes, and fruit orchards has also been impacted. Greenhouses, water heaters, and roofs have sustained damage as well.
