Tevanyan Misses Chance to Compete for Olympic Bronze, Armenia Returns with 4 Medals
Freestyle wrestler Vazgen Tevanyan has been denied the opportunity to compete for the bronze medal at the Olympic Games. Tevanyan lost his opening match against Gadzhimurad Rashidov, a member of the Russian Olympic Committee team, and would have had a chance to fight for the bronze if Rashidov had advanced to the finals. However, in the semifinals, Rashidov lost to Takuto Otoguro of Japan. As a result, Tevanyan has been ruled out of the bronze medal match.
Armenia has secured a total of 4 medals at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games. Weightlifter Simon Martirosyan and Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan have each won silver medals, while gymnast Arthur Davtyan and boxer Hovhannes Bachkov have claimed bronze medals.
Armenian athletes have completed their performances at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The Tokyo Summer Olympics will conclude on August 8.
