Rohani Apologizes to the Iranian People
The outgoing President of Iran, Hassan Rohani, has apologized to the country's people for the government's missteps during his administration. He made this statement on Sunday during what was his last cabinet meeting, broadcast by Iranian state television, as reported by TASS agency.
"We tried to make our policies have fewer mistakes and shortcomings. But if there have been, I want to apologize to the people for that," Rohani said.
According to Rohani, "the population is dissatisfied with the standard of living, and there is truth in that." He added, "But we must understand that we were in a situation of economic war, and from this perspective, look at what we could have done."
The inauguration of Iran's new president, Ebrahim Raisi, is scheduled for August 5.
