US Ambassador Lynne Tracy Visits Gegharkunik Region to Assess Armenia-Azerbaijan Border Situation
On July 26, US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy visited the Gegharkunik region, accompanied by representatives of the Armenian Ministry of Defense. During the visit, Major General Araik Harutyunyan, Commander of the Armed Forces, presented the ambassador with the current situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, after which a visit to the border area of Verin Shorzha was organized.
Ambassador Tracy reiterated the United States' concerns regarding incidents along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and emphasized that the US rejects the use of force in border demarcation efforts.
She also highlighted that the US, as a co-chair country of the OSCE Minsk Group, remains deeply committed to working with all parties towards a long-term political solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. At the same time, according to Lynne Tracy, the US urges the parties to return as soon as possible to negotiations at the level of the Minsk Group co-chairs.
