Chess GM Haik Martirosyan Reaches Round of 16
In the ongoing World Chess Cup, the sole representative of Armenia, Haik Martirosyan, continues to display phenomenal play as he advances to the Round of 16. Our grandmaster defeated Croatian Ante Brkic with a total score of 1.5-0.5 in the Round of 32. In the first game, Haik claimed victory, while the second game ended in a draw.
It should be noted that prior to this, Haik eliminated Turkey's top player Mustafa Yilmaz and Azerbaijan's leading player, the world-ranked number 6 Shakhriyar Mamedyarov.
In the Round of 16, Haik will compete against the winner of the match between Mamin Tabatabaei and Pentala Harikrishna.
