VIDEO: 53 Pedestrians Die in Armenia Due to Accidents Over Last 6 Months, Police Report
In the past six months, Armenia has witnessed 2,169 accidents, of which 516 were pedestrian incidents. Among these, 327 occurred in the capital, while 189 took place in the regions. Tragically, 53 pedestrians have lost their lives due to these accidents, as reported by the Armenian police.
"To avoid such statistics, it is essential for pedestrians to take their responsibilities seriously—crossing roadways at pedestrian crossings, obeying traffic signal indicators, assessing the speed and distance of approaching vehicles at unregulated crossings, and only crossing when they are certain it is safe to do so. Pedestrians crossing outside designated areas must not create obstacles for vehicles. These are fundamental responsibilities, and those who ignore them sometimes pay with their lives. Out of the 516 pedestrian incidents in the past six months, pedestrians violated traffic rules in 279 cases. It is not worth risking one’s life or inconveniencing other road users just to arrive a few seconds earlier at a destination," the statement read.
