President Armen Sarkissian Meets with Group of Doctors Regarding Armen Charentsyan's Case

President Armen Sarkissian met today with a group of doctors. More than 500 representatives of the medical community had addressed an open letter to the president regarding the detention of Armen Charentsyan, the director of the Izmirlian Medical Center, according to the president's office.

During the conversation with the doctors, President Sarkissian highly valued the contributions of healthcare workers to ensuring the health security of our country, particularly highlighting their dedicated work, especially during wartime and in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In this context, the president also appreciated Professor Armen Charentsyan's professional contributions and achievements in the establishment and development of the healthcare system of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the medical assistance provided to compatriots affected by the 44-day war.

The doctors expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic and the institution of the presidency for the respect shown to them and for responding to their letter.

The President noted that legal issues should be resolved strictly within a legal framework. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the lawful application of the law and the establishment of the rule of law.

It was mentioned that the powers of the President of the Republic are defined by the Constitution, and he acts exclusively within that framework.
