Work Migrants in Russia Will Be Required to Undergo Medical Examinations for Disease Detection

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the establishment of a unified sanitary-epidemiological database, which will store information on the medical examination results of foreign citizens and stateless persons. The document has been published on the official legal information portal, reports gazeta.ru.

It is noted that foreigners wishing to obtain residence, work permits, or work licenses in Russia will be required to undergo medical examinations within the country. Specifically, they will need to take tests for the use of drugs or psychoactive substances, HIV, and dangerous infectious diseases.

At the same time, temporary residence permits in Russia will not be granted or will be revoked if the medical examination shows that the foreign citizen is suffering from any of the above-mentioned diseases or is dependent on drugs.
