Aliyev: They refuse to provide us with maps regarding minefields
During a meeting with Miguel Angel Moratinos, the UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that 97,000 mines had been planted in the Agdam region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“We have only managed to obtain the map of the Agdam region from Armenia; in other regions, there are hundreds of thousands of mines, but they refuse to provide us with maps,” Aliyev said, according to Haqqin.az, adding that after the end of the war, 30 Azerbaijanis have died due to mine explosions, and more than 100 have been injured.
According to Aliyev, demining and restoration work is currently ongoing in territories that came under Azerbaijani control after the war.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan released 15 Armenian prisoners of war in exchange for maps of minefields in Aghdam.
