Papikyan Visits Ejmiatsin: "Hraparak"

"Hraparak" newspaper reports that the leak of the controversial conversation between Suren Papikyan and Ejmiatsin Mayor Diana Gasparyan was deliberately orchestrated to help the mayor distance herself from the situation and demonstrate her loyalty to Prime Minister Pashinyan by securing as many votes as possible.

The fact is that Pashinyan's position in the Ejmiatsin region is particularly weak, due in part to the influence of General Manvel Grigoryan and his family members, who claim they will exact revenge on the authorities by defeating them. There is also the influence of Arthur Asatryan, known as Don Pippo, who has pending criminal cases against him and does not support the government.

We learned that following the publication of the recording, discussions erupted among the members of the "My Step" bloc, deciding to spread rumors that it was an old recording from November when Pashinyan made a famous post urging soldiers at the border to return and "resolve the issues of the whiners." However, it later became clear that the recording is not that old, supposedly made in early June.

Regardless, Papikyan managed to calm Diana Gasparyan and prevent her from making a statement. Sources indicated that on the day the recording was published, Papikyan visited Ejmiatsin, where voices were raised in the headquarters office. The head of the national headquarters of the "My Step" bloc accused the mayor of failing in her duties and described the situation in Ejmiatsin as disastrous.
