In Russia, nothing will collapse within an hour when the president changes. This was stated by Russian leader Vladimir Putin in an interview with NBC, the text of which was published on Monday on the Kremlin's website.

“The situation now is different (compared to 2000). There are many issues at hand, but the situation is entirely different. One day, someone else will definitely come in my place. So why should everything collapse? We have fought against international terrorism, thank God, we have choked it. Should it be revived again? I don't think so. The question is that people with different views may enter the political arena. Well, that’s good,” Putin said.

Putin expressed his willingness to do everything to support his successor, regardless of personal relationships and differences in views, provided that this person is fully dedicated to the country. “If I see that a person, even if he is critical of certain aspects of my activities, is a constructive individual, a person dedicated to the country, willing to sacrifice not just years, but his whole life for the Homeland, regardless of how he feels about me personally, I will do everything to ensure that such people receive support,” the Russian leader stated.

He emphasized that sooner or later, everyone will be replaced, calling it a “natural, biological process.” “But I am confident that the foundations of Russia's statehood, Russia's economy, and political system will be such that it will stand firmly on its feet and look confidently to the future,” said the President of the Russian Federation.

Putin also noted that he does not think about receiving personal guarantees of protection from his future successor, similar to what he offered to former president Boris Yeltsin. “I don’t even think about that; these are generally third-tier questions,” the Russian leader answered when asked. “The most important thing is the fate of the country and its people.”
